    Very Loud Vibration

    Hi Guys,

I've just got my county back from having some work done on it for rego, and now there is a very loud vibrating sound coming from around the dash / steer column. I've taken the shroud around it off, but I can't work it out. Is it possible its something in the engine bay that is traveling up the shaft?

I'll take it back and ask, but I thought it would be easy enough to sort out myself - but now its driving me nuts trying to work it out!

Check your bonnet hinges. The little black plastic bushes that the bonnet fits into can cause this if the bonnet is not slotted into them correctly. They may have disturbed them if they were working under the bonnet.

I've had a couple of these that took ages to find. One turned out to be the rear view mirror (but I thought it was the bonnet hinges - lesson; the sound is not necessarily coming from where it sounds like it is!), another turned out to be some loose change in the works of the dash!

    Thanks guys,

Finally worked it out... it was the brass vacuum hose t-piece caught between the steering column and the air intake hose.

easy enough to fix.. but jesus all they had to do was drive it around the block to realize something was wrong.

    Locked bonnet

some people especially mechanics have asked me why i have a padlock on the bonnet of my 64 army ambulance and my 86 isuzu county , my answer is always the same ;;;; it is to keep mechanics from getting any where near it .

    That's a pretty good idea!
