    Temp Sender Unit Size

Just trying to find what size thread the sender unit is. None of the auto shops are able to help.

I think I read some where it may be the same size as the V8 unit (5/8 - 18UNF ?)

Also, will I have to go with a VDO sender as I have changed the gauge to a new VDO one?

Does it have an adaptor in the hole? My manual shows an adaptor. It lists the sender as ".... 6 to 12V, to suit above 120 degrees C, 1/8 IN. to 27 NPTF"

Didn't even occur to me to check my manual. Your right it does show an adapter, but I don't recall seeing one on the engine. I'll double check in the morning. At least this gives me thread sizes. Thanks for the help

    Standard japanese sender unit fits.
    I think it's M16x1.5 because these fit:

    TFS131
    Thermo Fan Switches | Tridon

All of the ports in my thermostat housing are the same thread. Standard temperature senders from repco/supercheap etc fit, but they have the wrong ohms range and read too high. I fitted a dropping resistor with some success but I'm looking for a better part number.

Range of them is here, but there are no ohm or suggested voltage specs.
    Water Temperature Senders | Tridon

I get Part Number TTS029 (also TWS3047) for the 3.5 V8, but it's showing 5/8-18 UNF thread. I need to find the specs for that with a M16x1.5 thread.

If M16x1.5 fits then I might be able to use the vdo sender that came with the gauge. It just looked to small.

It's part number is 320.004 the specs I got from typing that into google are

VDO Sender Temperature Earth Return Water 287-23ohm M16x1.5 button

I'm running a JDM truck 4BD1T. The thermostat housing looks different, but it should be easy to check what fits.

Unfortunately I'm running RRC instruments, specs are hard to find but they run on 10v.

Rave for the 95 RRC says 200 ohms cold, 10 ohms at operating temp.

Which doesn't fit with mine at all. I've got an 18 ohm resistor just to get the needle in the right place.

Your local bursons/repco will have fitting to adapt, they usually have a good range of auto specific stuff
