    meth injection

Ok so i'm semi happy with my turbo (ct26) now after a few changes, and after talking to the blokes where i dyno'd it to check afr's, i'm thinking of running down the road of meth injection, asked them re lpg and was given a big red light. lots easier and cheaper then any fuel pump mods and given yankee results, 20-30% increases and lowers egts. have been looking at the snow performance 2 stage kits. i know i'm not driving a worked duramax, but just curious what can be done - not that i have a perfect setup so far anyway, but for ****s and giggles and looking at the water-meth injection it looks like a sound solution for a little more go, and won't kill my motor.

so does anyone know much about this?

well for starters the meth bit is just so the water will not freeze.

    so its just water injection.

the main advantage of old school water injection was to up the compression in old motors or aircraft at altitudes. the advantages in an Isuzu will be there but to be honest not really worth the effort.

LPG on the other hand is great, even better with a turbo. around Adelaide i do not know of any Isuzu with out LPG ( and i am not saying i know them all)

the nay sayers are the ones with out or think they know it all because a mate of a mate had it on his 3ltr poo troll. or they just shoved a BBQ hose in there air intake.

Oh dear this is going to be interesting
as for the water injection i have been mucking around with a few setups but nothing special as of yet but mine is primative and working it off a limit switch on the accelerator pedal set so that its starts operating once pedal is halfway in hence boost/fuel is rising which is when it is most needed...getting correct attomization is fairly critical which is where i have dropped the project at the moment due to getting other more important jobs done such as getting the motor to run correctly after some IP mods recently..
.some advantages of the water injection is it cleans carbon buildups and since its 2parts oxygen it creates a better burn from what i can gather..

Anyhow i am interested in seeing what everyones ideas are and there findings from such homemade experiments...

And for those few people who are still waiting to actually see my vehicle posted on here like some wanted to see i havnt forgot im just extremely busy at the moment (get the violin out i know)

As tombie said that is the risk that may happen with a system malfunction....

    But Mike,
being an zoozoo wouldnt the bearded owner simply hacksaw the broken rod away then slide the offending piston out the gaping block hole. Start 'er up then carry on with three cylinders for the requisite 3,000,000 km till the next service? You certainly wouldnt appreciate any change in engine note running on three with half a rod clanging about I would imagine...

Methanol has the same problem as lpg in a high compression (diesel) engine. Detonation.
Mixing it with water suppresses the detonation, by the time you've mixed it that lean you have to run massive volumes to get a decent power gain (inject more water/meth than fuel).

There's a heavy user of water/meth on the 4btswaps forum. His 4bt lost so much compression he couldn't start it without ether.

So, how's the fixed turbo going?

As dougal said the amount of water needed to get gains is alot...the competition 6bt cummins in schied diesels f350 is worth a read running 150psi and over 1000cc of fuel it uses 6 gallons of water for one stretch with the sled
