I was just thinking the other day how well the County has been going.
Just had the fusebox completely rebuilt with wedge fuses and also thinking how spiritedly it had been driving ( as spiritedly as a d gas injected Isuzu can be any way )
Giving it a good blow out and wizzing up through the gears and generally keeping up with the traffic easily.

Simply selecting reverse very quietly the shift lever snapped off right where it enters the LT95 gearbox.
Considering it has done 250000 miles ( 400000 kms) I suppose it has done a few gear changes in it's time.
Is this a regular thing for Isuzu LT 95 Boxes?

Seen it a few times, seems worse on the isuzu probobly due to the vibrations.
I managed to do that on my Series 3.
A know it all mate said not to weld it in situ as the current could weaken the gears as it earthed. Sounded like he was having me on, but I drilled out the ball & inserted the lever into it with a few spot welds. It was about 20mm shorter, but no problem.
In my experience it is a common issue with LT95 gear sticks, not necessarily Isuzu powered versions.
Don't weld in situ, it is very simple to remove the ball. Be carefull to mark the alignment between the stick and ball before removing it so that the stick is in the correct postion when you weld it.
The problem with in situ welding is not weakening the gears as DeeJay indicated, but arcing between mating parts such as gear teeth or bearing races and rollers/balls caused by the path the current takes between the welding earth clamp and electrode.
Ouch.
I feel even better with my Isuzu box now.

5 minute bodge if you have a decent tool box
1. rip up the rubber cover and foam insert
2. unscrew the 3 13mm headed bolts
3. pull out the ball and the pring
4. grab a long handled screwdriver stick it into the selectors and kick the one on the right down, thats first.

JC , I was doing a favor for someone and picking up a rack for them.
I have been using the County a bit lately carting stuff home from work and helping out one of wifeys friends with some gardening stuff.
Car has been going great. Had probaly driven about 16-20 hrs across the previous week.
Arriving at the roof rack pick up address , I went to select reverse very gently ( unusual for me) and the stick just broke off exactly where it enters the 3 bolt plate.
As this will be our remote area travel vehicle when the build up is complete , what else is susceptible to no notice breakage.
I know that's a pretty open ended question and I need to catch up with the PO as I understand that all the axles have been replaced , the gearbox rebuilt , I have just had the clucth done and bothe diffs have had a rebuild also I think.
I guess the one weak spot could be the TC , but it makes no odd noises or anything.
