Where can I get the turbo manifold etc at a good price?

Am acquiring the accessories to convert my 4BD1 into a T and am finding the prices a little stiff.

Was quoted over $400 for the manifold in Oz and can get the same item in the US for $US184 with the exhaust adapter for $US105 but the shipping of over $US300 is a killer of the deal.

    Where do others shop?

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Thanks am preparing an email to Patterson Cheney

The 8-94366-247-0 EXHAUST MANIFOLD is the centre upwards design originally specified for the 6X6 Perenties.

People speak of the outwards slanting type, which is better and what is the part number of the slanting type?

    Here is a list I put together previously;

    8943662470 MANIFOLD; EXHAUST x 1
8944046100 GASKET; EXH MANIF TO HD x 2
0916146080 WASHER; PL,HARN x 5 (you will only need 4 but they sell in a pack of 5)
    8943676390 BOLT; EXH MANIF x 5
9047310250 STUD; EXH PIPE TO MANIF x 5
    0911105080 NUT; BOOSTER FIX x 5
    9041308400 STUD; EXH MANIF x 5

I think the outwards slanting type is from the truck 4BD1T? I'll see what I can find.

8-94366-247-0 is the type I used. It is the diagonal flange type, NOT the upward facing type (see below). I paid ~$320 from ISUZU.

This manifold has a T3 flange. The other type of manifold has an IHI flange. So I believe fitment depended on which turbo was fitted.

Also - I used class 12.9 SHCS from coventrys (fasteners) instead of the $$$ studs and nuts from ISUZU. They have worked fine.

    Thanks Ben

It was the description "centre upward facing" that confused me!

Talking about confusion: Looking at Garrett T25s as specified on the documents posted yesterday, I'm getting real confused as I look for the actual turbo. It seems that the T25 and even the ones with the BB codes (ball bearing) only seem to have inlets of 2 1/2" for use on rice burner tuner cars. Then we have Dougal making mix-n-match turbos, which is great for someone who knows about these things, but I'm a dummy in this realm.

So what code turbo am I looking for with a T3 flange?

The turbo from Isuzu is 8943829000 TURBOCHARGER ASM - it's very $$$!

I would be interested to know what they are worth through other suppliers???

The 4BD1 garret was a rare beast - T2 size turbo with T3 flange. They are still available AFAIK, but far from the best choice these days. That means that you will need a T2-T3 adaptor with about any option you choose.

I have a T2560R, bought second hand from a Nissan S14 Silvia (SR20DET engine). I paid ~$300 and it is still going strong a few years and 150000+ km later. It is on the slightly large side, so is more suited to highway/touring work which my vehicle mainly does.

There are a lot of ther options though. Any of the T3 size turbos (which would bolt straight to the manifold) will be way too large though.

I've got a spare one of the "Army" upwards facing manifolds. Has a T2 flange.
I ended up fitting one of the angled ones as the VNT I was planning to fit was too big to clear the bonnet with the upwards facing type (but was OK for a T25).
    PM me if you're interested.

A silly idea maybe, but what about getting a good exhaust header shop to weld up a 4-into-1 manifold with a steel flange for the turbo?

If you have that done up with a port for the EGT/ pyro sensor and have it ceramic coated? Or will that work out much more expensive than the AU$400-odd?
