Muine has a generic choke cable that you can buy from Repco, Bursons, etc. It come out where the choke cable normally is on a V8. The centre of these cables is just wire and the outside is spiral wound wire. Both can be cut with std sidecutters. Cost about $15

mine had same problem as isuzurover...it also used to turn off if i pulled on the wires around the firewall thats how i found the connector problem

Looks like I fixed the problem. Pulled the cover off the motor end (2 screws) and noticed that the commutator contacts (little copper contacts around the shaft) had the gaps between them clogged. I used ablade to scrape them out and put it back together and bingo all working again. Appeciate the help thanks to all.
