water ingress or a dodgy connection on the wind motor.
Today the fuel Cutoff mechanism in the county (4BD1) decided to ignore the fact that the ignition was switched off. Then about 30 seconds later it cut. It did it a couple of times over a couple of hours but later was ok. Any suggestions as to why this might be.

Dave has hit it on the head, they are covered up BUT moisture can still get in, and create havoc. I removed mine and just use a Kubota pull stop cable where the petrol engine choke button comes out to the right of the column.

There should be a bullet connector near the brake and clutch MC. That was the problem with mine.
Thanks Dave water ingress is a distinct possibility will pull it out next weekend
I've noticed that water can drain in from the channel under the windscreen but didn't realise that the unit was moisture sensitive. Manual cable is always a good option.
I put a cutoff actuator from a Mazda T3500 in mine. Had to mess around with the relay wiring a bit but its 12v, works fine and easy to get. Cost me $25 from a truck wrecker.

I kept blowing fuzes in mine (once I found the thing) and replaced it with a generic cable from an old boat. one less thing to go wrong.
Same as JC.
It doesnt serve any function other than allow the engine to cut out with the key (as car drivers are used to) I couldnt see any other function.
Both mine have pull cable stoppers with a ratchet on the knob. Stays pulled untill it is rotated. Stops people jumping in your car and starting it too.
