Difficult to do if you want to drive it on the road as ADRs appropriate to the TDi Disco will apply - big engineering issue. Much easier modifying a much earlier chassis as ADRs as such will not apply if an earlier enough chassis is used.
Anything is possible though with time and money.

Yeah I had this idea with a rd5 deeder and my old s2a.. ADRs killed the idea, as by the time I had complied with them all there wasnt enough of the 2a left to warrant the effort and expense.Quote:

Lots of discussion here but no response from the OP.
Probably not an 80" let alone a 49.
Didiman
I had an email requesting info, no chassis number however the PMC ID plates reveal an LRS88 number so am "guessing" it's not an 80"!
AFAIC it's O.K. to fit an alternative engine to make the vehicle useable on modern roads.
Diana
In case is a 88 with 2 litre spreadbore (57/58) and not an 80 with a 1600.
Prefer it not to be modded but a 200tdi with or without turbo would be a good diesel alternative if a mod must be done. A Freelander 1 L series diesel would also be good - I believe kits are available from the UK but not sure.

Sorry I'm OP, I got a short answer and stopped watching the thread!
The chassis number is i believe R06100846 I have been told a few different things about what model it is, some have said its pre-series other that its the same as Churchill drove or maybe thats just the wheels.
The cars in Darwin and I'm in Bendigo so I can't provide photos but I have seen it as its at home and i just moved out for work. It has lots of parts with it so I'll keep the original motor however i have a lot of Series 2, 2a, 3 bodies at home, mostly engineless its kinda like a LR graveyard so all the info is helpful and I appreciate it, they where mostly Holden powered but I'd rather Isuzu diesel!
Cheers,
Goots
Hi Goots
I had a look in my Series one workshop manual for you and that number is shown as a 80" 1950 L-R Basic Export R.H.D
and also as a 1950 L-R C.K.D. R.H.D.
Simply means in that year the Land Rover either came out to Australia as a completed vehicle or came out in a crate disassembled to be put together here, C.K.D = complete knock down.
In my opinion it would be well worth restoring due to it's age.
A series three? now that's getting closer to the Isuzu transplant you want.Quote:

Is it is a long wheel base as the brakes would be better for a start?
What more can you tell us about it?
