While we are on the subject, any ideas on a turbo for the 6.2?

    Keith
The 6.2 and 6.5 engines have about 22:1 compression ratio, which is on the high side for a turbocharged engine. The turbo used for the 6.5 would be a reasonable stating point. Also Banks had turbo kits for them. Turboing V engines will involve difficult plumbing issues, etc.

When the 6.5 was introduced (sorry I can't remeber the year), they beefed up the casting for the block because the earlier 6.2 had a few strength issues, such as cracks from bolt holes for main bearings and other webs.

Indirect injection diesels are not as good a candidate for after market turbos as direct injection engines. The late 6.2 with serpentine drive and high output water pump addressed a number of issues that make them more robust, but they have the worst fuel injection pump.

Oh well, you all think the 6.2 is crap. Dont tell me as I need to have confidence in it.
When it goes bang I hope its handy to home as tow fees will be big.
I will put an Isuzu in it when that happens then all my trucks will have the same donk.

Went to town yesterday to order manifold gaskets and get oil pipes. The drain I can get sorted OK but couldnt get a match for the top pressure fitting any where.
Any thoughts on a supplier or I may do what Dougal did and make a banjo bolt.
I cant even find a bolt to fit for a pattern. Whats the thread size and pitch?

The drain I had to cut and shut as its a tight fit.

This page talks about a 7/16 x 24tpi. From memory that is about right, I turned mine out of a shanked 12mm bolt.
Turbo Oil Feed Banjo Bolt 7/16in-24 Garrett T25 T28

Officially I think it's an SAE inverted flare, you should be able to confirm the thread spec from that. I did find a the above SAE inverted flare fitting but the banjo bolt fitted my layout and pipe sizes much better.
For the price of the one in the above link, I'd just buy one if delivery is going to be in time.

We have two hydraulic shops in town and neither could find something that would screw in.
I will order that one and see, otherwise I will do as Dougal did and make one.

Wet yesterday so drilled and tapped the manifold for the EGT sender. Put the new VDO boost gauge in the photo so show its place of manufacture.

Banjo bolt arrived todayfrom Japan courtesy Dougals link. Perfect fit, they call it 7/16 - 24. The male flare even fits the fitting the hydraulic shop put on the flexible.
    Now its all go.

Looks like rain for a while so may as well get into it.
Off with the old manifold and on with the new.
Stud hole width is not the same. New is thinner so made up some spacers to put under the nuts.
