it would be nice and easy using the landcruiser box and TC as the are made for each other .
But then I feel I might as well putt a 12Ht / fe in to keep it simple and all bolting together .

How would a 3 speed with a 1.1 3rd and a 1.2 in the lt230 ?? Or would cruising rpm still be high??
personally I think a 3 speed with the isuzu would be rubbish

Limited rev range, combined with limited gear ratios's

Thats why all these fandangled new diesels have lots of ratio's in there auto box

Your best bet would be to calculate final ratios and graph it against RPM in a spreadsheet. That way you will easily see what options are best. Even if you get a good highway ratio you dont want common speeds like 80 or 60 to be between the sweet spots in gears. In my old setup 60 was too fast for 3rd and too slow for 4th. It was really annoying.

IIRC, the 345 cube V8 in a scout has a redline of 3500 or 3900, so not that different.
However, the old slug V8 is completely different animal to an isuzu so I don't know it would fare. I do know that my old auto scout was much easier to drive around town.

Yeah it would "work", but there must be something better that's turned up in the last 30 years.

4BD1T's sold in the US with Jatco boxes. Later the 4BD2T's appeared to get Aisin boxes. Presumably related to the landcruiser Aisin.
