sounds like a fuel supply problem start with the fuel pump gause and work back to the tank pickup
good luck
I have a 85 mod.i brought it about 6months ago as a na motor and have since turbo it using isuzu manifold and a garrett 4664095002s the truck one.also ive added a a/a intercooler 2 1/2 same as rijidi 's one by the look.so my question is after turn the fuel screw out 3 turns 16psi approx driving up hill or hard accel i.e under heavy load it stuters or jerks starting at 14psi then will keep boosting to16 psi with a few more stutters then foot flat it drops back to 13psi and stays there still foot flat i know some has to do with the gov. Its the stuttering thats the real pita .if I turn the fuel back say half turn13 psi it gets better but also loose powerany one had similar issues

Fuel her up some more, advance the timing a tad and keep an eye on egts see what happens...that's after you try as suggested above !
Could also be an air leak in the suction side of the fuel supply. Particularly around the lift pump banjo so make sure you use new crush washers when you check the inlet filter. Parking the vehicle nose down with a full tank of fuel usually shows it as a decent leak.

Thanks for your help guys i got to and found the hand primer pump must have been leaking air after replacing it ( i had one waiting as a spare) problem gone smooth acc. Screw fuel screwed back out off we go cheers
Much to my announce the problem has returned or not quite gone .... im obviously get air in between tank and pump ive cheched the line and im suspect on the water trap the seals (o ring) dont look great does any one know where best it buy them ....or an alternative fix maybe buy another water trap.. dephi or similar. ...
Since you're in Hobart, try British4WD or give Justin Cooper a call (he's in Kingston). Other than that, any hose place (Enzed, Pirtek etc) should be able to sort you out with an o-ring if you take in a sample or even better the water trap itself.
Is there an easy way to bypass it with a piece of hose and some clamps for testing?

Well found the cav filter seals fit in the water trap so replaced them ... I also replaced the whole fuel line between the tank and the lift pump with marine 8mm rubber hose (very thick) and used efi clamps but I still have little sutter under hard acc. What a pita .... the small filter in the lift pump is clear there is no weap of fuel around any banjo washers or around the filter so ......hum..har... ??????
G'day Adrian,
Definitely sounds like you have a fuel supply problem there. Does it still have the original fuel tank with the gauze sock on the pickup inside. If so I would be dropping the tank and inspecting the pickup. If it has the gauze sock you will most likely find it is clogged full of crud. Best solution is to tear it off and let your proper filters do the job. Symptoms sound correct for this. Good luck.![]()
