Slight thread derail but if anyone else is thinking of fitting bonnet struts and are trying to figure out what capacity struts to get, take a look at adjustable gas struts - they seem to be the strut of choice at home. When you first fit them you'd be hard pressed to close the bonnet, but the struts allow for gas to be bled from the system via an allen key, until they match the weight of the bonnet plus attachments. HAve read good things about them in the forums back home.
This is a supplier in the UK, but I'm sure it's possible to find something more local....
