Yeh well done for sticking with it till it's sorted, big relief no doubt! Sounds like your neighbor is well qualified, be great to have those engine tuning skills, funny how subtle changes make a big difference, makes me want to get mine checked for tune
For a comparison, what's the 0-100kmh now? And hope it tows your camper well.
Happy camping,
Andrew.
All that, and it turned out to be all in the tuning, makes me wonder whether I shouldn't have a bit more of a fiddle with mine to see what results I can get.
Changing the position of the boost gauge was the best thing I did, it now comes from just before the inlet manifold. And isuzurover was right, fuel screw turned the wrong way by quarter of a turn and it just dies.
What myself and jason started with was fuel screw out 2 turns, boost hitting 19psi, and I just drove it as hard as I could, he watched the gauges, then we just kept adding, could tell we were getting close when it was boost really quick, and getting to the governor in no time.
Once egts were hitting 690, we turned the fuel another quarter of a turn, and it would surge, so backed the fuel back and all was good.
That Turbo does work well with this engine. I could get more out of it, but for now that will do, next year I will go water to air inter cooler (that's all I could fit), then more boost and fuel. I also have a n/a engine here I might build up to Turbo spec.
I think an auto would really make this car though, think I will call Sheldon in the new year and see how his is panning out. Ford aod or t700, that is the question.
If you look at the post on the nv4500 to isuzu you'll see the trans adapter , then its only t700 to lt230 to think about.
