Any thought of electrical problem with gauge?
If it's anything like my 4bd1 wiring, there's a 97% chance of it being an electrical fault. Haven't got roadworthy yet and I've found cut ends, melted sections, worn through sections, wires joined by only a twist and electrical tape...which was powering my indicators!
l've ran with 15/40 mixed fleet oil, at the moment its got 10/30 super farm. l've tried two manual gauges and fitted a new electric sender. The relief valve in the block is out and in the vice at the moment. lt does'nt stick and has plenty of spring resistance. l know it could have a headache, but that would mean as soon as oil starts moving, it opens. Could happen l suppose. $118+tax for a new one.
l must admit l'm fed up replacing ok components just to eliminate them as a problem only to find no change, but maybe thats the only way forward.
One thing l've never lost is my sense of humour Bush65, which you seem to have. lf you had a 1/4 ton of scrap iron sitting on garage floor instead pulling your truck along maybe the odd derogatory remark might just slide out. As for chalk and cheese, your right! But when you can buy chalk (300tdi Disco), taxed and MOT'ed (on the road). Use it for 6 months, off road and to work for $530, whereas the cheese (4bd1) pulled out of a truck dumped on the floor, $3,000 exchange............
l/ll settle for a nice Bourdeaux and a bit of chalk, until the answer turns up. lf l did'nt agree with you that the 4b is a stonkingly good engine it would be landfill or have been turned into 20 washing machines. To many threads? l know, l cant quite figure out how the "threads" way of communicating works. l can hear you! If he cant understand that, how put an engine together.
Thanks for info though, its always nice chatting to people.
