6X6 Nice Improvement

Hi. Our 6x6 is 3.8 tons empty. When I went to Perth it was up near 5 tons maybe a bit more. It is the drag of the 15" that you notice when you push the clutch in & coast from about 90ks. The vehicle slows down much faster than it does with the 16". Plus the revs at 100kph have dropped about 150 to 200rpm. Paul

Nice looking set up is that the standard width body ? or the perenti wide cab

4980 empty and 5500GVM dont leave much room for carrying much :(

Hi. No the cab is standard. I cannot take credit for the camper set-up as the previous owner did a top job with the camper & storage set-up. I fitted the 6 jerry can holder & the motorcycle rack. He also fitted the rear diff with freewheeling hubs & air lockers in the 2 rear diffs. Paul.

Most of the stuff I need is built in so the only extras are fuel, food and water. Having said that if I fill up the water tanks and put 800 litres of fuel in then it gets a bit heavy. The 6by's capable of carrying it as underneath its much the same as the SAS LRPV's and loaded up with ammo and stores they are towards 8 tonne I've been told. I'll check on that and see what the army allows on them. Back to the thread though the weekend trip will give me a better idea on how it handles the weight and the resulting fuel figures.

Just out of curiosity what diff ratios are you all running in your 6x6s ?

The mill spec trucks should have 4.7:1 diffs not sure on civi 6x6 tho id take an educated guess at 4.7:1 for civi trucks too
