I was thinking of putting the pickup bracket on the transfer with the magnets on the front shaft.
Read a couple of posts on another (non LR) forum about using rare earth magnets as they have a stronger field and still work OK a bit further away. One of the AP60 sellers on ebay supplies them free to be epoxied onto the shaft.
In saying that, I have a Td5 speedo here, so might be easier to just use a controller that will handle the electronic signal from that transducer....

I have the magnets wired to the prop shaft with the pickup about an inch away on a bracket to the side, held under one of the bolts securing the crossmember.

Steve, I have an AP60 (I think it's a 60) kit in the shed which I intend to fit one day. If you want to have a closer look at one pre-purchase you're welcome to check it out.
