    Questions questions questions...

So, brain has been ticking over and although it may be unpopular with some, I am thinking of sticking an Isuzu in the 101...

This is a longer term plan, so only just thinking of the basics to see where I might end up, but I don't know a lot about the 4BD1 or the 4BD1T.

Having driven a 6x6 Perentie recently I know what it may sound like while basically sitting on it, and that side of it isn't an issue. I've got Range Rovers for when I want quiet and comfortable. The 101 is what it is. I plan on doing more and more KM with the 101 and I think a diesel option will make more sense long term. I am usually towing around the 1 tonne mark any time I go out with it.

What I'm after is some ideas on what the power output is from each unit, both HP and torque - in stock trim and what sort of increase in power can be had reliably and what sort of boost this would be at.

Also, if anyone can comment on what diff ratios may work while keeping the 36" tyres on the beast. I'll be keeping the LT95 and the OD will go as I doubt that would be reliable long term behind the diesel.

I think the turbo in its standard location may be an issue, but I believe there is a kit being made by someone for the Perenties that puts the turbo on the other side?

So, ideas, pros and cons welcome. I need to learn a lot more about this engine before I start.

    Cheers - Babs

    3.5 diff gears

It will push the 101 no probs at all, just add turbo and fuel, you will need to make up and adaptor plate etc as opposed to using factory bellhousing, there was a guy in tas that made them I believe

You will know you are sitting ontop of it though

It did cross my mind to fit an iload engine in mine......but I think an LS will do the trick, it will only be Vic stuff towing kids and camper, so plenty of room for jerry cans

I still think the iload engine would make a good conversion, they seem to be up there on reliability and I've towed big heavy car trailers with GU patrols on them with mine and it copes really well

Don't the Isuzu's bolt straight up to the LT95 in the Perenties? What is difference in those - different bell housing?

What size is the iload engine? Guess we're talking electronic here which I am trying to steer clear of.

Thinking the Izusu would be the most sympathetic conversion for the 101.

Different bellhousing to suit LT95 to 4BD1, it gets into a whole lot of stuff, cause there is an adaptor of sorts on the back of the Isuzu which is Isuzu landy specific aswell, but use of one of those would push the LT95 back as its longer than the special short bellhousing the 101 uses

2.5l but variable vane and common rail is what makes it move

Maybe this is a suitable time for me to confess I'm am currently part way through a project similar to the one you are suggesting.
I'm using the Isuzu 5speed box and an lt 230 though.
I can confirm the turbo on any of the standard manifolds will act as a very efficient passenger seat heater!
The kLR manifold is the answer, does not swap sides, but moves it back enough, just.
The Isuzu motor is also quite tall...
I decided on this engine as it's as I wanted something loosely land rover connected at the very least and having owned and lived with them in the past, seemed the only way to go.

    Good luck..
