What motor/box is currently in the Disco ??
Bit new to this, I have a question. In the Shed I have a KBD Rodeo with a C223 engine which is in pretty good nick, 400 psi on 4 cyl and reconditioned injector pump and reco injectors. Also there is a series 1 Disco, both are just deteriorating. Question is would the Isuzu engine be too underpowered for a Disco? Maybe a silly question, but be gentle on a geriatric. It is clear out time.
cheers Robbo

Will have to check for sure tomorrow, but I think it is the 3 litre V8. Would that be right? Box I'll have to get that from my son.

A cheap engine is of course the smallest cost of an engine transplant. Making the engine fit the trans, (ie buying an adaptor plate if it's available), engine mounts, fitting all the accessories including the exhaust is the first difficulty, then there's the engineering approval to pay for. Flog the Isuzu engine and the Disco on Gumtree and purchase one good working diesel Disco to replace it. You'll save yourself an absolute fortune.![]()
"Flog the Isuzu engine and the Disco on Gumtree "
Have tried Gumtree, ebay and some others but no one interested, except of course the usual who want to swap some rubbish.
It is a 3.5 V8 and manual 5 speed. The Isuzu year I don't know, but think it may be some sort of industrial (Fridge engine) as it
has timing gears not belt. That was sugested by Joe Isuzu who runs a site in the US.
Loanrangie, the Isuzu is a mystery package, think it may have come from an industrial set up, like fridge van or the like.

I thought the Isuzu would be a wee bit light on power. Maybe it would be better to put the V8 in the Rodeo and forget about the Disco.![]()
