Fitted a viscous fan today

Would some one mind explaining the advantages of going to a viscous fan setup?
I'm thinking possibly quieter, but airflow would be less if anything?

I guess it will warm up faster, and there will be less load on the engine?

Would this even be noticeable?

Yeah my understand is less load on engine unless it's running hot and less noise. Allegedly. ;)

The benefits of a viscous fan are that it operates as normal at low speeds when the engine is warmed up but will slip when when cold or the airflow through the radiator is sufficient to cool it like when you are at cruise speed. Less noise and less power needed to turn it. Hope that explains it.

For those that have installed one, is the noise difference noticeable?

Yes, very noticeably less fan noise.

I believe the formula for fan depth is 1/3rd in and 2/3rds out of the shroud to achieve maximum airflow. That looks pretty good to me.:)
