is there not an input shaft exstention ?
given that the r380 mounts to a td300 car like and the BD has a flywheel housing?
more in line of getting bearman to rebuild your lt95 plus the cost of box and TF

Just going to throw something back in here that I did in another thread a while back.... I'm running a Cummins 5.9 in a 101, and its coupled to its original ZF5-42 gearbox. I've made up a conversion plate to couple it to the LT230, which when set up correctly, is good for reasonably big power. As said before by 85 County, the 4 pot diesels have very 'course' torque which eats boxes....
To me, the only option is a box designed to be behind that engine.. Whatever was in the Isuzu NQR truck or similar.. and then get a kit made to suit the LT230. I made a 25mm plate that matched the faces of both the gearbox and Transferbox. I used the original gearbox prop output flange machined down and welded to the LT230 input gear.. Mine is still going strong after 40000kms. The lads in the UK took it a stage further and had a batch of billet gears made. They were breaking adaptor shafts as they are just too small. My gear has an O.D of 50mm with a wall thickness at the weld of 8mm. Due to its diameter, its strength is huge. Here's a shot of the billet gears. With the truck boxes, they're either cable or linkage, so the lever can be put where you want it... :)
Because mine is a soft dash! When i tried to fit the lt95, the gearstick came up under the dash, i would have had to move the gearbox back about 150mm.
If it fit, it would have stayed. I was quite surprised how much difference there was between a hard dash and a soft dash.
Money and dramas aside, i'm happy with what i have now
God it must have annoyed the crap out of some of you guys a while back when CHT was posting up his r380- 4bd1t up dates every 10 -20k km (box is going well simpson desert crossed x 4 ect ect )all the the way too 250k km :D

not at all,
i think the conclusion of this thread is that, if it came with a 95 keep it, if it came with a 85 keep it.
if you shoving a BD, BB, BG from something else keep the gear box that came with it.
or you can fork out a lot of money and change something for very little advantage if any.
i mean if your pockets are that deep then go for it, but remember with land rovers there is very little left that is new to try, some one some where has already done it.
the the fact remains, the BD is hard on gearboxes, not because of the power nor the toque but because of the toque impulse.
as a result the first thing to suffer is the gearbox input bearing.
Now no one would put a LT77 behind an isuzu
nor would you use a gear box with the same input bearing like the r380
Hey Steve how do I check if I have the .996 gears?
Tapped out on the governor I'm maxed out at 120.
Up here 1000km trips aren't uncommon, and well lets just say I'm not to keen on sitting on the governor for 1000km :wasntme:
Think I need to seriously look in to the Isuzu box option
