When degreasing my ABS supplied pressure plate today I had first to remove a sticker. If it weren't for taylorlandy's comment I would not have taken much notice of the fact that the sticker said "P/P Nissan CNI 28101". Not anticipating this is the high strength pressure plate referred to, but interesting to compare part numbers.
Haven't got the number on hand sorry but I would've thought each manufacturer would have their own numbers? Now we know that the Nissan clutch will fit there may be a better deal with other companies if you ring around. I just got sick of ringing and the bloke was very helpful and was a better deal than the others.
    Cheers,
    Andrew.

Careful, I think the pressure plates are the same but the spline on the clutch seems to trip people up. 275x10x28.6 is the dimensions for the 4 speed. A few places I rang said 10mm was an odd size and good luck haha.

Someone please chime in and correct me if I have got something wrong, I am still learning about clutches

They only use the nissan pressure plate. The coarse spline centre to the friction plate is all landrover and the boss is relieved on the flywheel side to miss the spigot adapter, which is unique to isuzu applications. After i fitted mine the trans rattle was much worse at idle. I entertained the thought of refitting a turbo truck friction plate as it was very quiet but the damper springs etc are upgraded with the heavier clamping force so i left the plate supplied with the extreme clutch in there.

And absolutely, you can't simply buy a Nissan clutch and whack it in. The salesman was all over it, that's why I went with them.

Any chance you could post up the specific part numbers when u get a chance?
At the moment you're obviously into a good sales guy. In a years time if he's moved on it would be good to have some specifics to "guide" someone who's not so switched on.

To clarify, mine is the 4bd1t and MSA5g combo 24 spline - kit all fitted up nicely yesterday.

Justinc's comments have me a little confused as I'm new to clutch tech. Is it just the pressure plate that has the potential to provide the extra clamping force - or is the combination of spring set up in the clutch plate and the set up of the pressure plate - or even spring set up alone in the clutch plate that can provide extra clamping force? My uninformed impression was that springs in the clutch plate might be for shock absorption and not clamping force.

Ah ok then the bit anout landrover coarse spline input shaft is not applicable . The clamping force is solely applied by the pressure plate an upgrade in the diaphragm spring will see higher clamping force . The friction plate is designed to remove engine vibration transfer from the engine to the trans via a series of damper springs between the 2 halves of the fruction plate centre boss.

Images of kit from Direct Clutches. With pics of usedoriginal N/A kit for reference.

Hopefully you will be able to discern the stamped identifiers on the pressure plate and drive plate, numbers on the Exceedy box in which the drive plate came. The kit was supplied with L/R throw-out bearing (plastic). Dunno how long this item will last. The supplier asserted that plastic t/o assemblies work fine for a long time. I guess I'll be finding out...
Now I have to decide whether or not to dress the flywheel in situ or pull it and have have it faced up.
