yeah mate tough on the inside, maxi drive internals flange to flange.

the key to not bending them without pre stressing, or pre heating is taking your time and not doing more than a couple inches at a time.

    the engine

    G'day
Very interested to read your thread. I have a truck with the NA version of this engine and thought that it would have been a better choice for the Stage 1/ Perentie than the 4bd.

    What does it weigh?

Do you know if the manifolds etc are the same as the 4bd1?

How expensive was a turbo motor (i'd consider a turbo for my truck)?

hey mate, yeah the 4be1s are a great motor, all the good things of the 4bd1 but with a few more revs to play with.

weighs the same as the 4bd1, around 370-390kg from memory

yeah manifolds are interchangable between the two, the later 4be1s had a different intake manifold design but still bolts on both motors.

my motor was NA but has had a garret gt25 bolted on to it, i can't recommend turboing these motors enough, completely transforms them.

when you turbo your truck have a think about gearing the diffs up a bit, makes them a lot more drivable.
