What is the recommended operating temperature

    Good evening,

What is the recommended operating running temperature of a standard Perentie 110 Cargo with Isuzu Diesel.
My vehicle usually sits around 80 -85 around Brisbane, but going up the Toowoomba range with a loaded trailer, just over 90.

Is that reasonable or do I have a thermostat issue

    Cheers, Cyril.

If it is the same thermostat as the n/a engine, it opens at 80, so allowing for the fact that it takes a few degrees to fully open, 80-85C is probably reasonable, and up to 90C pulling a loaded trailer up the Tollbar hill is not unreasonable either.

My FFR runs smack on 85 and a mates GS always ran on 80.
The difference between them may be in their respective thermostats, or just the accuracy of the gauges.

further to the accuracy of the gauges the resistance on the earth directly affects the reading.. so if you're seeing anything odd check the earthing of the gauge first as the terminal pole on the back of the gauge is an alloy that corrodes into a powder that slowly increases resistance. This happened to me.

My 4x4 Perentie (plus aftermarket turbo) runs at between 80 and 85 normally and 90 on steep hills.
Yours is normal I believe. The 4bd1 is not under much load normally in the Perentie and thus runs what appears to be cool.
