if you need to you can rewire the sensor on the block to work the idiot light in the dash, you can also fit a secondary idiot light (basically wire a 12v feed via a resistor to a led across the block sensor wiring if it glows the switch is open so the led will light up, once oil pressure is up the led is shorted and the resistor prevents enough current flowing to light the reverse lights.
Blknight, I had another look under at mine. There is no additional switch or wiring that I can find on the oil filter assembly. Being a 1982 very early version of the 4BD1, perhaps it's possible that the second switch came on later versions?...

    Red90,
Thanks for your assistance. Mine is now sorted too. We just need to complete the cirtuit don't we?
The top left of your diagram was all that was needed because I tested the slate wire going to the switch and got full power... (more than 12v).
That made me chase the earth.... among the spagetti sitting below the relay I then noticed a lone black wire with a ring terminal hiding. It was only long enough to reach the clutch master cylinder bracket cover plate, which has been removed and still to be refitted following a clutch master replacement by the PO. I screwed on the earth wire.... no more oil warning light!...
Heres the switch and my series III manual wiring diagram for reference.
    cheers
    Rob.
