    Coil Springs and Shocks

After reading a number of posts across the forums and also having pulled a light (~295KG) aluminum trailer I fabircated before taking the 110 out of service for a rebuild; I am looking for a solid set of new coils/shocks to accommodate the rover and the aluminum trailer to go behind it.

Currently the 110 sits a bit low and soft, which has been fine without the trailer to consider but with it, especially in the rear (photo attached for reference), it's too low in the rear even without loading.

I think I have decided to invest in a set of Koni Heavy Track shocks after reading all the back and forth I've read on the boards and some research I've done. Koni 90-5375SP1 to be specific, as it sounds like with those I likely can't go wrong. I am thoroughly confused on what to do for new coils however and am hoping someone here who has had similar goals and now has experience can weigh in / guide me.

I'm looking at sacrificing a bit of the softer ride and am leaning towards something on the order of King's HD coils or something from TerraFirma. I don't really have a lift on it now as you can see from the photo and I'm not really looking to create any of a lift overall, but would like to 'true-up' the rear / front more, especially when loaded as the rear is just too low even without a load and especially when the trailer has been attached.

I have read about the King KLRR-05HD being a good option. Also krfr-03 as another option. That said, I'm leaning towards TerraFirmas - They appear to have heavy duty / standard height heavy load springs for the 110, front TF036 and rear, TF038.

Does anyone have experience with these coil springs on a 4BD1 110? How about in concert with the Koni HT shocks? All comers welcomed with 4BD1 experience - whether you're bringing a 'suspension religious war' or just a load of experience for me to consider before making this (yet another) significant investment getting my rover back on the road.

    Thank you in advance.

I would go for something around 250lb in the front personally, like the ome766 coils. I have kings krfr01 sp4 in the front of mine, and they are 235lb, great in the slow stuff, not so great on the road.
I am now thinking of trying the OME coils up front

I've looked at the OME's too and they are widely available here, but I would have thought going with a 250lb over a 235lb would actually make the road ride worse. Your input seems to indicate the other way around though, correct?

I think the 250pd would carry the weight better, particularly in corners. Its a heavy engine unlike a rover v8.
I found the 220 far to soft, the 270 just a bit to firm, so tried the 235, and aren't quite happy with it, so leaves me with 250 to try.
You won't get that range rover ride with a 4bd1 up front, but i wish you could.

Can't help at all with the springs as I have just gone with the standard Perentie ones. I used the 6x6 front ones on the 4x4 and the RFSV double ones on the rear. But you won't go wrong with those Koni raid shocks. They are brilliant although expensive. Have them all round on the 6x6.

Outstanding. I doubt I'll have the need Brian has given how he uses his for the 6x6 springs but will look at the specs and regardless your inputs have given me enough to commit. I'll give the 250's a go up front, maybe a bit higher for the rear and as for the ride, I look at it as an investment in deferring kidney stones anyway so it will be fine. 😁 thank you all for the input.
