Hey, I'm one of those old farts too Damo. I resemble that remark!!
My County had a stop cable - never stuffed up like the edic motors do sometimes.

    Isuzu engine stopper

I had to get a new one when the nylon gears in the old one stripped. I got it from Chop Hock Hong in Singapore. Miles cheaper than LR or Isuzu dealers here. It came with a plug bearing no resemblance to the original. I got the local travelling auto sparkie to fit it and work out the connections. He changed the plug to one from his collection.

Only problem with dealing with Chop Hock Hong was that (then) they didn't accept credit cards. I had to do a bank trnasfer before they would accept the order.

An update. I finally gave up trying to prioritise this job and gave it to an auto electrical place. I’m glad as wasn’t too exy, and solved two problems.

While there was some water trapped in the bag covering the stop control causing corrosion, the real failure was due to a seized cable. The motor couldn’t move it so pumped in more power and burnt out. The plastic gear was still in great condition. Like BigJon I had one of these strip on a county I had years ago. Anyhow here are some pics which I thought might be of interest, especially for those who have never had one out.

If cleaned up it would probably still work. So if someone wants it just ask.

I think I will put some WD40 down the cable of the other Perentie project.

A quick question, do you have a part number for the cable? Mine works but the cable is broken as is the plastic bag thingy.

    Cheers Rod
