can you tell me more about the conversions, what gearboxes would you recommend, what do you think is the best combination of engine/gbox/transfer? My maxi diffs have 4:11's and i'll be running 255/85/16's. With all that torque, i would need something with a tall overdrive for the highway i'd assume..

They both look to have body lifts, will the engine fit without a body lift??

Im a big fan of the R380 behind them, despite what some people say. These ones are both running R380s with 1.222 lt230s and on 35s, a nice combination. They cruise nicely at 120
The motor should squeeze in without a body lift if you don't a run a cross over pipe over the rocker cover.

If the crossover pipeisn't run over the rocker cover, is there space to run it elsewhere?

What would one of the 4be1's cost roughly? i have done an internet search and not many came up for sale...

Are you getting these engineered, did you have to brace the chassis rails?
    Cheers

Best option would be to front mount intercool, which I'm about to do.

the 4be1's depend, I've seen them anywhere from $500-5k. if you can find one of these they're the way to go.

theres plenty of 4bd1s for sale on grays online every month, just keep in mind most of them need a rebuild.

yep, every modification to them is legal and engineered. 6 page long report on the rangie haha. nah the chassis haven't been braced, unless your jumping the things big time i don't see a need for it.

You will have to lose your 4.11 diff gears though, unless you used an isuzu msa5r gearbox and 1.003 transcase.
You could also fit a water to air intercooler as another option.

I was talking to an engineer down here about simply running 33's, i was told i would need to increase the GVM and the chassis would need bracing! Are there any kits available for the conversion?

I see that frontline have 4bd1's come up and the prices seem OK, just how much difference is there between the 2 engines, is it mainly the pump?
    Cheers

some 4be1's had a rotary pump, I've never seen one but there supposed to be out there. mines an inline pump with 9mm plungers apposed to the 4bd1's 9.5mm plungers. the obvious difference is ones a 3.6 and ones a 3.9. The 3.6 is smoother and happier to rev.

    Find another engineer.
I had my rangie engineered with the 4bd1t motor and isuzu truck gearbox and 33's. No chassis bracing needed.

What diff gears are you running with the 35's, how many revs in top at 100kph?
    Cheers
