    235 or 255

    Hi all.
Just wanted to know , Who has gone from 235/85/16 to 255/75/16 ,
I originally wanted 255/85 but it seems that size is just above the legal limit of 50mm diameter larger than my current tyres 7.5/R16

The skinnies seem to do there job well , I'm digging trenches everywhere ! So I'm thinking some wider tyres would be better for the places I go .

Did anyone notice much of a difference going from 235 to 255 ? Was there much less cutting through the crust into the bottomless pit ? Or was the higher sidewall of the 235 better when deflated ?

I assume 265/75 is getting a bit big without power steering ?

    I went from 235/85 to 255/85. Highly recommend if you're off-road much.
Now I'm am on 285/75, mainly because they cost significantly less & easier to find. Probably not for you with no power steering.

I'd give 255 a go. So many of us use these, never herd of anyone with a problem with police?

255s will be fine, especially if you have a turbo

I went to 255/85R16 on my TDCi. With the BAS tune I reckon this size is perfect diameter for the vehicle. (Others can argue the width).

Haven't looked at Tas regulations but in NSW the regulations seem to have changed from
    http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents/...si-09-rev4.pdf (Nov2003 - no more than 15mm bigger/smaller diameter)

    to
    http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents/...ifications.pdf (Nov2013 - no more than 7% difference)

Going from standard 235/85R16 to 255/85R16 would have been illegal in NSW prior to the Nov2013 advice. Its fine now. Happy!
