Perentie will not start
Good evening to the Forum and to the interested participants who have offered suggestions to address the problem.
I have just removed the starter motor and will take it complete with solenoid to a auto electrician to have it checked out.
Tried to hand turn the motor again, but its not budging. Which means taking the rocker cover off and checking if there is a jammed valve stem.
other than that it looks like a Hydraulic lock up.
Unable to access the hymonica balance nut with a suitable ratchet as the winch is in the way. Probably have to jack the vehicle up quite bit
to get decent leverage on the nut from under the vehicle. Thats where we are at present.
Cheers.

You could put it in 4th high and rock it back and forth by hand. Maybe spray some penetrating oil in each bore a day before in cave the rings are sticking.
With the bonnet open and tappet cover off you should see the fan and valves rockers move.
This is one way to adjust the valve clearances.

Well the old saying Persistence pays, Success I can turn the motor over by hand, reasonably free allowing for compression, no grinding sounds.
So I will put it all back together over the next week or so and update those who maybe be interested.
Cheers and thanks for the assistance.

Hi, I had a similar problem. Mine was the switching solenoid on the starter motor having bad contacts. Looked at pulling it apart and fixing but there are good prices on Ebay for a new one in Vic so I bought one new, installed it and all good. Ebay is as cheap if not cheaper than auto electrician.
I took a positive jumper lead from the battery directly bypassing the starting solenoid on the starter motor to the power input to the starter. Motor turned over.
Hope this helps.
Cheers, Brian
