    300M!! Isuzu TorqueIsuzu TorqueIsuzu Torque

I know, who the hell can afford it, but we can all dream!

Would HyTuff work better as it's more malleable, even though it has a lower UTS?

Where's John/Bush65 and Dougal when you need them!

I remember seeing 3M stamped on the end of an axle 30 years back,,

if I recall it was good for one COMPLETE rotation of twist,,,

That's part of the reason why Mal Storey opted for HyTuff for his axles, it takes a twist/shock load really well and is reasonably priced.

[QUOTE=steveG;2845702]So whats the plan? Different material? Different heat treatment?Love the machining porn too - is that a Pacific mill? Steve the mill is a pacific 1250 a good solid machine altho I use the bridgeport mostly for the axles and the First for the long axles as it has a longer table. The axles as built are slightly weaker than the Ashcroft 4340 cvs so am not changing any thing as far as the shorts are ,however I have redesigned the long as a 2piece.This leaves me with a three 31 spline bullet proof axle and will carry a short spare Pics grinding the slotter bit ,Slotting the sleeve , finished sleeve
