It might work but the hot air might need to be rotated elsewhere.

Does that tappet cover, cover thing work in reducing sound levels?
I saw one for sale on here recently but it looked like is was for the 4BD1T

No, this is the KLR setup. It has a manifold that holds the turbo very close to the head and reasonably far aft.

No idea how much the acoustic cover does as I haven't ever driven a 4BD1 without one - it must help though or why bother manufacturing them? TD5s and 300Tdis also have acoustic covers so there must be something in it.

No , thats much like I built on my 110 except I put the pipe under the aircleaner. No intercooler.
That setups too wide to fit under my seat base.
That setup on the red one looks OK if I can find who does the manifold.

What about a top mount manifold?

Top mount wont work as its in a Forward Control. The engine cover is between the two front seats and there is not enough clearance over the top of the engine for turbo height.

Keith, from memory my turbo, with that same top mount manifold, sits about 40mm above the acoustic cover. I will measure it again tonight if interested.

The top mount manifold looks like it would sit the turbo lower and closer to the engine then the standard manifold (maybe).

Edit: Actually it is hard to tell without seeing them side by side. The standard manifold is very compact.

It would be worth a measure up anyway...s-l300.jpeg$_75.jpeg

Keith, the garrett 2260vnt is a great turbo on the 4bd1, I ran this for a while until I damaged the impeller shaft. Rovercare also ran this on his 120 he built, which now belongs to Shingleback. I believe rovercare just wired the vanes closed, it still worked very well, I set mine and Mike_ie's up with a dawes valve, boost T, and from memory a vacuum actuator.

The red county with the turbo at the rear that is picture, that turbo manifold is believed to be for a marine application if that helps.

And whilst I have your attention, I have a question about your msa to 6.5 I will pm you.

Tonight I measured the height of the turbo above the acoustic cover to be 50-51 mm, using a 50mm square piece of wood.

Thanks for that. It might squeeze in but would be really close to the passengers bum. Things could get too hot, thats why I thought a rear mount might be the go.

Also I have this inlet manifold that I wont use.
A few years back someone converted one to a laminova intercooler.
    Anyone want to swap?
