    Turbo source

I've got the head off the county to replace the head gasket, so tidying up a few things while I'm at it.
Very tempted to replace the old T25G turbo with something decent, but want to keep it as close to a direct swap as possible.

The Kinugawa TD04HL-19T that a few people are running looks like it might fit the requirement.

Is there a cheaper direct source, or have you just been buying them through ebay?

Bugger - I knew that would happen. Another option to look at!!
Seems there's a big variation in the Holset prices just from having a quick look on eBay.
    Any known reliable source?

Having the wastegate actuator mounted on the main body would save a bit of messing around when clocking the compressor housing. I'd still have to change the flange on the dump pipe but a v-band clamp would be an improvement over the the Garrett bolted flange.
    Tempted....

Yes, and apart from the rebuilding, I haven't got time at the moment to mess around with controlling/tuning a VNT.
Need it back on the road and solid by the end of the month.

I have the same issue- I'm well tired of the TB2518.
the HX30 is readily available as chinese knockoff for about $350 or about $540 'genuine' with bits (gaskets and exhaust flange (still Sino but at the Holset factory).
I can't make out if they are a T2 flange.
Bearman just went to the KLR kit after ridding his engine of the TB25 unit and reports that the compressor arrangement is relatively tiny- can't identify exactly the unit acquired.
Dougal suggested an HX30 on 4BT Swaps recently to me after I posted query about the TB25 wheel resistance issue.
None of these are plug and play exactly...

The "genuine" ones on ebay from Wuxi factory seem to be about AUD$800 delivered on ebay.com. Where have you seen them for $540?
From what I can gather they are T3 flange which would be awesome as it will bolt straight up to the Isuzu angled manifold rather than needing a T3-T2 adapter.

Steve they were advertised on ebay, from what i gathered they were run on an engine but never used on a vehicle. Basically brand new. Will get BadCo to get you the info.
