Turbo Isuzu engines for sale tomorrow

Just noticed that the latest Gray's / AFM auction finishing tomorrow in Victoria has a few of what appear to be new / rebuilt turbo crate engines, currently at good prices. Thought there may be some interest from forum members.

Nearly 24 hrs to go yet. All the action happens in the last couple of hours. They will go for a lot more than that.

New or rebuilt is a worry, are they new, are they rebuilt properly!
Haven't been following the auctions, what are they eventually going for Brian?

    The description is saying used.
Looks like they have been pulled out complete and pressure washed.

If lot 145 is that clean from just pressure washing, then the washer must have had a paint feed.

I may be wrong about the stare of the engines. Maybe they are not rebuilt.

Was just trying to be helpful by bringing them to the attention of members of the forum who might be interested.

I bought one last year as a replacement of one of my motors which is dusted, picked one as best I could, looked like it had new gaskets on it, turns out it was a $1350 boat anchor with no 3 piston stuffed and the valve dropped..I found out they sometimes use a colour coding system on them, mine had a red dot (unserviceable) under the lid which couldn't be seen without pulling the box apart..Gumtree was a better source as I found one recently removed from a running 6x6.

Usually the ones that are clean and painted and all holes plugged are recoed engines. Definitely NOT new engines as a couple of buyers who buy/sell auction stuff for profit are saying. Even if you go there with a big socket and breaker bar and turn them over there is no guarantee that it is what it appears to be. As per above, some people have been caught out and others have got a bargain. Water ingestion is the biggest killer of them in the ADF role. That's the risk you have to take with this Grays auction stuff and bid accordingly. If you get a recoed turbo motor for under $4K you have a bargain, but remember there is also no warranty. Also Grays/AFM are good at pulling any condition identification tags off any parts and crates so the buyer has no idea what condition they are in except "used" as stated in the description. And then they want to charge up to 18.5% buyers premium on top of the going price plus GST on the total!!!

I bid up to $3000 on 2 of them, each had "serviceable tags" on them which suggested from previous experience they were in good working order..what bugs me the most is the additional charges 10% gst,and in this case 13.5% buyers premium.
In the old days , the gst was included in the knock down price, Aussales and Manheim Auctions, and in the case of Aussales no add on's at all.
They two engines eventually sold for $3,469 each Plus GST and Buyers premium. Cheers.
