Check your transfercase oil level, I bet it is migrating into there
Hi,
Every 1200 km I am having to add a litre of oil to my LT95, there is a constant drip coming from the wading plug on the bell housing (this is engine oil leaking from the rear seal on the 4bd1) and the box itself is always wet, although I cant seem to find a point of origin. Ive cleaned the box up quite a few times and it just seems to permeate from everywhere 🤷🏼*♂️
Is there any particular seal or gasket that is a usual suspect?
cheers, Bob

Also - the engine oil from the clutch housing may be mixed with transmission oil - doesn't take much engine oil to make transmission oil look black! If this is the case, the culprit is the oil pump cover on the front of the gearbox. This is prone to warping and leaking. It can be lapped flat (what I did), or I have seen a suggestion it be replaced with thick sheet steel, accurately flat. Gearbox out, I'm afraid, to even tell if that is the issue!

Thanks Damian and John,
I’ve checked for migration to the transfer, the oil level hasn’t changed (unless it’s migrating into the tc and then leaking out!).
Well I won’t be pulling the box out any time soon (still have three months of post surgery recovery to go), so it could be a trip to JC.

Mate sounds like what I’m sure I’ve got leaking input shaft seal. Put car on a hill bonnet facing downhill if you get a good puddle out of wading plug - sorry but that’s a gearbox out job. If your engine oil doesn’t drop and transfer case level isn’t moving that’s it. Or a leak on gearbox oil pump - also in same area also gearbox out.
Aaarg possibly a leak from the transmission pump gasket and seal..😫
The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
