    Looking at it I don’t think so, all looks very factory to me. I’ll get some more photos and post them up this evening.

    Shouldn't this 'V' be a 'Z'?

    Just a bunch of numbers on my spring hanger. However, the aluminium compliance plate in the engine bay has a 'V' and annotated 4cyl diesel. Did 'Z' at one stage represent diesel?

    Looking at my compliance plate, I have the same thing going on.

    Mines a series 3 stage 1. What does the 'V' stand for if it is raising queries?

    According to https://www.lrfaq.org/FAQ.3.Chassis_Numbers.html

    V = 3.5l V8 petrol (carburettor)
    Z = 3.9 liter Izuzu diesel

    1. I would not be surprised if the different letter was not introduced until after a few had been built with the diesel (possibly quite a few). At this time the procedures for VINs were by no means as cut and dried or as strict as they later became, and there is a tendency to backdate procedures (such as a different letter for the Isuzu).

    2. The vibration, especially when idling cold, is normally pretty bad on this engine. Look for body rivets that have failed due to fatigue, and excessive wear on such things as door locks if not kept adjusted, and also fatigue cracks in body panels that vibrate.

    I think John is on the money here. Stranger things have happened in the early days of Land Rover model changes.

    Having a small issue here with the engine not wanting to start after it started so easily previously.

    I am getting these clicking noises from the relay, once they eventually stop after a few seconds the starter will turn over once or twice and then stop.

    I have fully charged the battery, cleaned up the chassis grounding again but having no luck. There is fuel getting to the injectors so I am quite sure it is something electrical.

    There is a lot of wiring issues I need to address in the coming months, but just wanted to know if there is a simple solution to this just so I can move the car around whilst working on it.

    Cheers,
    Dan.
