Not so much improve the brakes but no more fiddling around adjusting the shoes anymore. Is that from a civvy defender or a military perentie. The rotor mud shields look like civvy ones that only have a 2 pot caliper and a very small pad area. The military ones are 4 pot and much bigger pad, in fact they are a D1 front caliper.

Civvy units...can't see how drums would compare esp off road. ..at all😉

KLR kit too spendy for the owner.. I wanted D1 fronts but he got the whole shaved unit at a v good price inc up rated axles and flanges. See how they go...D1 fronts can always retrofitted if needed. Looking for a spacer to fit vented rotors to the front now or defer vented ones...etc etc

What do you do there? Replace the County rear axle with a Defender one and change the master cylinder to a Defender one?
    Cheers

Swapped out the Perentie diff for the 2 pot caliper/disc converted one which went v well albeit the diff is beeping heavy.

Bled brakes and test drove. No more spongy pedal and braking much better. Off road brake testing in some muddy slippery tracks also very good.

We suspect that four pot calipers on the rear may be overkill unless a proportioning valve is fitted.

Anyhow for a grandish plus freight it has been a good outcome.

There is already a proportioning valve installed. It's in the 2nd barrel of the master cylinder.
