    Subtle surge

    Hi all,

Just noticed a very subtle surge when under constant throttle. If it were a petrol I would suspect a dodgy lead. Not sure if its a possible injector problem, it still pulls like a train. Interestingly it cranks for about 3 seconds before it fires as well. My son's 4bd1 fires instantly. Any thoughts/theories.

    Cheers,

    Mark

I have a similar issue with mine. Only at idle, every now and then it will pickup slightly and after a minute or two drop back down. My ride is a converted 300 tdi to 4bd1/T . Mine pulls like a train no excessive smoke or and other noticeable issues.

As for the start issue mine does the same. Sometimes it starts straight up and other times a second or two on the starter. I put both issues down to Henry the 130 being an individual. I would not be concerned as long as you keep the fuel servicing up to date. Fuel filter and drain the oft forgotten fuel separator. I also check the mesh strainer under the injector pump annually. Cheers, funny you mention the idle pickup and then fall, this engine is doing the same whereas the previous 4bd1 I had in the car didnt do that. I did have a sedimenter clog up and forgot to check the strainer. Thats a good point...
