Brake light switch for 1984 Isuzu County

Is someone able to confirm for me if the brake light switch is mounted down low on the bulkhead in what I might call a cast body with brake pipes leading into and out of, mine has a fault works/won't work etc, at first I went looking in the same spot where the Series 3 with boosted brakes has a mechanical switch, but there is a plastic bung in that hole, and this other spot appears to be the only electrical item in the brake circuit, thanks in advance cheers Dennis ps I also have a 110FFR it has a similar switch but it hangs off the brake M/cylinder, ? would they be the same thing?

If it is the same as my 1986 County, no! I have the mechanical brake light switch mounted on the back of the pedal box. The switch on the hydraulic bit you mention is for the brake warning light that comes on when the pressure in the front and rear hydraulic circuits is different - usually when the rear brakes need adjusting!

Thanks John, up on the pedal box was where I first looked but there is only blanking gromet, I also checked to see if were in the cab on the inner side of the B/head where some of the later series had a mechanical switch but nothing there either, I'm at a loss to know where it is, cheers dennis

Take the wires off the switch you found, join them together and see if the brake lights, or dash warning light comes on.

I have four books on the 110, three from Haynes and one from Landrover, and can find no hint of a brake light switch anywhere except on the rear of the pedal support box (in the gap between it and the firewall). It is almost impossible to see with the bonnet on, and is about 4" lower than the grommet you have identified, almost against the firewall.

Brake light switch for 1984 Isuzu County

I happen to have a pedal box out of a 110. Here’s a pic of the brake light switch location described by John above.

It’s from a Perentie, but the pedal box is the same as a County other than the booster mounting plate. This pedal box is to suit a PBR booster.
