I am doing my trip preparation to drive the Canning Stock Route.
It is a 1985 single cab 4bdi tray top/canopy.
Has anyone done this in a 4bd1 and let me know what fuel consumption they averaged. At the moment I am using 25L/100 as a calculation to how much fuel I will need to carry. Normal driving around 11 - 14L/100
I plan to carry spare shock rubbers and filters.
The truck has steel rims, Alloys don't fit over hubs. Standard tyres. Weight up to GVM.
Thanks for any input.
David
The thread title indicates that he has a turbo, not sure about the locker. Would a locker affect fuel consumption anyway?

Haven’t done the Canning yet, but on the other desert/remote trips we’ve done in the county we’ve never had worse than 15L/100 average.
Other than leaking fuel or dragging a dead vehicle I don’t think it would even be possible to use 25L/100 !!
Budgeting 20L/100 would still be very conservative IMO.

1985 County - Isuzu 4bd1 with HX30W turbo, LT95, 255/85-16 KM2's
1988 120 with rust and potential
1999 300tdi 130 single cab - "stock as bro"
2003 D2a Td5 - the boss's daily drive
Im not sure if it helps but when I crossed the Simpson east to west in my turboed 4bd1 wagon, fully loaded two adults/two kids, I used about 200lt.

Wow... that seems a lot for the Simpson... I assume u filled up at Birdsville and then where did u refill?
back in 2021 we crossed the desert "off-track" along some unused shotlines to the Geo-Ctr, then plotted a course straight eastwards where no vehicles had been driven before and we avg 14.3ltrs/100kms between Finke and Birdsville (1025kms)
The CSR I assume would be very similar to the Simmo, if not easier as the dunes are not a big and "if" the track is clear and well used I would have thought an avg 15-16ltrs/100 and working on 20ltrs/100 would be a good figure to use...
I will be crossing The Simpson from Birdsville which should give me a fuel consumption to work on. At the moment I have only maxtrax on roof racks and a bag to put firewood as I go along. I don't want anything else up there even short term, but at 25L/100 I would need 1 Jerry up there. (Which would be interesting in lifting it up there.)
On reading the posts I could be very lucky and have 15 - 20L/100.
Thanks for inputs.

Hi Rob, filled up at Birdsville and then at Kulgera. I’m going by the number of jerry cans we had. We used them all, but the perentie wagon only has a 50lt tank under the seat.
Yes, we had a crazy weight on the roof. We had 3 or 4 water jerries on the floor under the kids feet.
