All Stage 1 and 110s have the flat cover and the acoustic cover over the top. Doubt they would be industrial engines.

Stage 1 and military were rated to 85Bhp, civvie 110 to 99Bhp.

The hump in the covers is the breather diaphragm, the hump covers have breathers coming out the side.
The flat top engines without, do they have a large breather sprouting out of a cam shaft cover?
That's the telltale sign of the industrial ones to me.

The only truck engines I have seen (in person) have had the flat aluminium cover and no acoustic cover.

Perhaps the hump was a later model addition? Or was initially only fitted to the turbo variants?

Maybe it's a year thing.
The earliest one I've seen in (or from) a truck is 85 model year, my 4BD1T is 86 model year. Even the 4BC2 (3.3L non turbo) from that year have the hump.
Later on (4BD2 from early 90's) seem to be a longer hump.

All I can say is wow , well done to all of you , wish I could join the elite isuzu Rover club. some of your engine bays look impressive , specially Justine's , mate if you drop a spanner inside your engine I don't know how you're gonna retrieve it?? :eek:

you just run the Isuzu motor for a couple of minutes and all the vibration will shake it out of the bottom--but love the 10 lites per 100km.
