    I assume it is a 2.8TD???

In which case it is a 4JB1T - a great little engine. Similar output to a Tdi, but more bulletproof.

I have seen a few conversions, and they work well. There is a company in the UK who make adaptors to most landies for about 400gbp.

If it is the 3.1TD - stay away.

What's wrong with the 3.1TD, the 4JG2? I've owned a Jap spec. Isuzu BigHorn with 3.1TD, it has never given me any problems. What have you encountered? Care to share?

Hmm - maybe I was a bit harsh. The 3.1 and the 2.8 Share the same block. So the bottom ends are both good. The real difference is that the 2.8 is direct injection, whereas the 3.1 is indirect - and as a result uses more fuel.

There was a company in the UK doing 3.1 to 2.8 conversions - apparently they had quite a bit of business.

the 3.0TD which replaced the 3.1 is the real dog though.

    Hi,

What engine is it and how much would you like for it?

Where did that come from, the 4JB1 has 74kW/(100Bhp). The 4JG2 has 84kW/(120Bhp). So just below/above a tdi (respectively). Both can be tweaked easily.
