    Stuck in Halls Creek....ARGH Again

Well we are stuck again. This time I broke the bolt for the injector rail on top of the fuel filter. We struck problems in Bungle Bungle with the ole girl sucking air somewhere in the fuel line.It would run great for 20km's and then starve fuel.Tried to tighten the banjo bolt and it snapped. I have spares coiming out, but that is still 4-7 days away.I will still have the problem of sucking air. Spoke to the Repco bloke here who was a total waste of air," I'm not working on a ****ing Land Rover", great!!!

So far this trip has been a pain, we broke our tank, got a second hand send out, more hole's in it then my broken one,so patch mine. Now sucking air.Add tyo that I have been crook twice.....ahh well at least I'm not at work.

    Any ideas would be helpful.
I am in the meantime going for the plumber's tape and will check all bolt's, hoses etc.

    Cheers,
    Paul

    Sorry to hear...

You mean the bolt that goes from the fuel filter to the injector pump?

If you have another filter inline, you could bypass that filter by cutting the hard lines in and out and connecting them with some fuel hose. (that may also solve your air problem???)

As a temporary fix to your main problem, pressurising the fuel tank using your compressor should get it to run continuously? Also, if you have a pinhole/air leak somewhere, doing this and looking over all the lines and filters may show you where.

I have only had problems like that twice. Once when I changed the CAV filter on the chassis (converted sedimenter) and it wasn't sealing perfectly for some reason, and once when the hand pump unscrewed itself (to the position for hand priming).

Mate I have an almost identical problem with my car except I never got as far as 20km's. Mine turned out to be the fuel hose going to the tank pick up wasn't quiet tight enough, this allowd me to get about 10km's down the road (sometimes less) before the air in the lines caught up with the pump.
Seeing as you have removed the tank try there first.
Good luck mate, if you need anything drop me a PM, I have a fair bit of fuel related stuff hangin around from my rebuild. Unsure of where exactly Halls Ck is in WA but parts from Darwin have to be quicker than Vic

I experienced air being sucked into the fuel system at Eighty Mile Beach (WA) about 10 years ago after I did a minor service (oils, filters etc). After about four hours of checking everything, I discovered that the flat rubber/neoprene washer on the sedimenter drain plug had a very slight lip on it and wasn't seating properly - turned it over and all was good once again. Got home OK, replaced it and added a spare to the parts box.

Well parts are on the way, should have them Saturday. And have managed to track down a Landy mechanic in town with a Isuzu, as well as TD5 disco, blitzes, champs, dodge WC's and Inter's,top bloke to boot.So all should go well from here on.
Thanks for the replies...will let you know how we get on.

    Cheers
