there is enough room, but it's tight, im thinking it might be from a truck. my dad has an isuzu elf one of those little trucks his is a 3.7ltr and his has a manifold that looks the same.

my 'conservative economy' set up is 15psi:p with 550,000km up. these are a tough engine:D try runnnning 10 to 12psi through a 2l, 3l or 2h etc and see how long they last.....i've had no wastegate connected since about a week after the turbo and engine went into the RR...:)
Dougal I was looking at a jeep the other day which I think it may hav had a 3.7 5cyl turbo mercedes diesel (not quite sure but im guessing that was it) but I had a quick look at the turbo it was running a garrett gt22v not sure of other numbers but im asuming its a vnt would this turbo be a good option for the 4bd1 you reckon ?
Yes if you can control it. Later VNT turbos are electronic control.
It's probably a 2.7L diesel, that sort of turbo will be fine for 15-20psi. I have a GT2256V here from that engine which I plan to fit at some stage.
Yeah I dont think it was electrically controlled I didn't see a box of the side of it like the puma has but trying to get a vnt will be the hard part without paying a fortune :( do you reckon that your vnt when installed will be on par with bush65 compound setup ? Are you considering intercooling yet ?
Oh yeah 2.7L my mistake
No a single VNT won't compete with a compound setup.
A single VNT is the best drivability you'll get with a single turbo. A compound set will kick it's arse.
I've been intending to fit an intercooler forever, even had an intercooler in the shed for about 4 years now. Life keeps getting in the way.
Yeah thought a vnt would be best drivability for an even delivery of power but wouldn't put out high flow rates at higher pressures like a compound setup would I wouldn't think ? I read in a old turbocharger book that on tractor pull engines they were using 3 turbos in compound configuration until they could produce well over 150psi of boost pressure (in this old book highest recorded boost was at 300psi) seems extremely high but you might hav more of an input? It also puts the meaning to a true intercooler and aftercoolee (intercooler being a cooling device between each of the turbos)
If your having such good power curves and drivability with your setup as is, imagine once other mods are done such as intercooling :o
