    Oil capacity

    Hi all,
haven't had a chance to get a manual yet (is there a manual?) and would like to do an oil change. How much oil do I need for the isuzu and who stocks filters for them?

    Hi Pete,
There are a few different sumps appearing in the LR converted vehicles, but Mine is a factory fitted 4BD1 and it takes 8 litres with the filter. Your engine, does it have the twin spin on filters? or a single upside down paper cartridge kind. The only difficult and expensive ones to buy are the single spin- on kind, The others are all available through Repco/ Sparco/ Bursons etc.

The turbo factory truck engines use a bypass and a full flow filter, both listed in the Ryco catalogue, just look up Isuzu NPR turbo and it'll be there. The paper cartridge kind is a R24***can't-remember-the-number but it also appears in the catalogue under NPR early NA engines.

-What do you need a manual for? you won't have to do any work on the engine except oil changes, coolant and filters

Single spin on cartridge type. Might change oil at 10000km intervals or it might end up being an expensive purchase.

So, the filter housing, does it have a bolt to undo like a series? or is it like that Falcon Z9 sort of thingy? I'm hoping it is the former, because the disposable spin on type is a WHOLE LOT more $$$

10K is fine, I change mine before I leave to go up to the mainland, and do it again 12 to 15k later when I get home. I did it ytoday at about 9K and it still looked great!

Can you make it on M onday? Won't be a very exciting trip, just a chance to get out for a drive with some new disco people..(Leo109, Thermoguard instruments person...)

Justin, not a disposable type thankfully. At this stage probably a no for Monday. I've spent too much time on the new project and I think Michele's about to dust off my suitcase. I'll man the shop this weekend and see how things work out.

buy a 20l drum and a 1l bottle.... saves money in the long run and you work out with the first oil change how much you need.

I buy all my oil in 20L of drums and a minimum of 12 filters at the same time and ask for the best discount they can give me. Like a lot of the guys here I'm already getting it for Trade, I always ask for a bit more.http://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/smi...n_thumbsup.gif

    Hi all,
finally got a workshop manual which states oil capacity 8L, JC said his takes 8L, mine took 6L and reads full on the dipstick. Should I ignore dipstick reading and add 2 more litres? Or is there another explanation. I also notice that the oil lights stays on for a while when I start it cold, is this normal, engine has the upside down oil filter.

I also think mine is closer to 6 litres than 8. I buy oil in 5 litre bottles and last time it took just over 1 bottle.
I'll try to measure better next time.

    !!! Important Note !!!

On my engine, when you pour oil in, it runs over the bottom of the dipstick on the way to the engine. So if you check it too soon, it may look full (mark on dipstick is at max.), even though it isn't!!!

The PO of my 110 noted in the manual that the sump takes 8L and the filter 0.5L. Seems about right to me (I also have the genuine landy sump).
