    Moding isuzu exhaust???

    Hi all
We have just put a set of 33s on the county.
And as expected the front left hand tyre is rubbing pretty badly on the exhaust
Any ideas/pics on how to mod the exhaust to allow the tyre to move freely??
The exhaust is a tad rusty so i don't think it would put up with much bending
A new exhaust system will be coming soon

We can't run the exhaust between the chassis rails because we are fitting a PTO winch soon (the shafts take the same root)
Just after a quick mod to the standard exhaust so we can run the 33s?

    "quick" is relative I guess...

the only other way is to mod the firewall/floor...

    Sorry for hijack..

I have same drama here if I run 8" -25 offset. Rims in pic are under 8".
I'm not keen on running pipe between chassis and gear box as I spend a lot of time in long dry grass here. May be a fire risk

I would put an additional bend in it to run it closer in to the chassis as well as closer to the floor (although this will make the floor hotter), just moving it in means the closest approach of the tyre to the exhaust will be when the steering is hard over, and further away, if you see what I mean. Notching the outrigger looks an attractive proposition, but I would be wary of this - it supports the bulkhead and hence the whole body!

I think that would work... Also a non mandrel bend would make more room

I have tried to find a pic to show what we are looking at here.

    Hi Tim,

I'll be going down the same route, fitting a PTO winch + running the exhaust between the chassis rails if I can shoehorn it in.

Currently I have a winged sump, so there is no way of doing either, but does anyone know if there be enough room for both a PTO shaft and the exhaust if a non-winged sump was used?

Alternatively how much firewall hackwork would be required to shoehorn them in?

    Cheers

What kind of Land Rover are we talking about?
From your user name it would be a Defender 90, but then an Isuzu in not common in a 90!

Not a couty, but i have a Rangie at my place at the moment with an isuzu and pto and the exhaust runs between the rail and engine, although it does have extractors if that makes a difference
