The last one we fitted to a 130 with a LT85 behind it destroyed 5th gear because it COULD tow 2 tons all day in 5th:o He has gone to 33's and uses 4th gear now for all the hard work.
It is really hard to actually convey just how good these engines are in a landy/ rangie. You really need to drive one.

I know what you are getting at. Mine needs a fridge and a good tune to get the best out of it. I'm still amazed with the pulling power of this thing as it is though.
I'm going back onto 33"tyres soon so then it will stay out of 5th in the hills.
One thing that worries me is the 4BD1 eating the gear box:(

Exactly, after 3 ZF 4HP22's and 2 LT95 transfer cases, taper roller bearings are the go.:) Just wish they weren't so costly:(
