If $500 is a good price, I think if its a 3.9 then YES definatley, if not I'm not so sure.

The engine model should be cast into the lhs of the block about half way just above the sump.

The rocker cover doesn't seem to have the angled cut out on the front right corner and the three extra 12 mm bolts for the rc shroud (quiet kit) are missing. There should be bolts at the front, middle and very end of the rc.

Has your Series III got the 4 sp with vacuum actuated push/pull centre diff lock knob?

Ron I am just not sure what its got, bought it on a spur of the moment off a photograph seemed like it was a good unit the guy said the motor was bigger than what was in his in his 2.5 ton isuzu truck. Bought it before I really checked it out. I think I will ring him and ask him to check the lower section on the exhaust side of the block for the model number. Dougal thinks it is a 4b motor which one though? Thanks for those photos. Have put up a photo of the chassis plate that he sent me thought it may help not sure if its going to appear.

Not all Isuzu's have that rocker cover. I have a Genuine 2 owner Stage 1 Isuzu and it does not nor did ever have the acoustic cover.
As Gary has stated, he has not bought a stage 1, but a series 111 that has an Isuzu fitted. It looks very much the same outward appearence to a 4BD1 except for the routing of the ancillaries with look to be changed to fit the motor in the engine bay. The Exhaust manifold is very different to mine as is the inlet manifold. The motor sits alot further back in the engine bay. At first glance I thought it more likely to be the 2.8L.
The block casting as Bob mentioned is the thing that will give it away. Buying sight unseen. Brave Man.

CC, you're correct, see my post here

Even though you don't have the acoustic kit do you still have the bolts to fit it?

Brave or stupid :eek:the jury is still out on that at the moment, just tried to ring the guy not there at the moment. So hopfully find out tonight, if he can get through the cobwebs scale and rust to view the model type, heres hoping. The image of the chassis plate has not come up on here but at the top it has an additional number 39942 I am not sure what this is about, but the chassis plate does say it is a LR diesel chassis number 91828392C or maybe G?
I just read your other post, and you learn something new every day:D
No bolts, but definate flat blank castings where they should be. They are not evident on the photo on the motor in question, so the more I look at the photo's the more I think it is the common series conversion of the 2.8l isuzu.
