The 4BE1 has a rotory pump, so yeah no plunger pump on that. Most vehicles with rotary pumps have a primer pump fitted to the fuel filter. Take a look.
I'd check air and filters first.
Guys,
A development on my 4Be1 of the last week or so.
Starts and runs fine, cruising along at 2600-3000rpm. Slow down at traffic lights, idle drops below 800rpm and engine stalls. If I keep the hand throttle out and hold the revs at 2000rpm then its no worries.
1. Thought it may be air in line so went looking for the priming pump like on the 4bd1 and there isnt one?
2. Bad fuel? so I changed tanks with no difference?
Any advice or anyone had a similar experience?

Yeah, I used to own a 4BE1 powered county with a similar problem. Turned out that the fuel pickup in the tank from the original v8 had a very fine mesh filter over the pickup that had gunged up. Took the pickup/sender out of the side of the tank, cleaned the filter and refitted.
