I had this problem...the contacts in the relay that controls the fuel cut off motor were dirty. The relay is often located screwed on the clutch pedal frame inside the engine bay. I simply pried open the relay and cleaned the contacts.

I relocated mine to an easily accessible spot and used a push in style fuse holder. That way you can just push and twist and take the fuse (and part of the holder) with you. A neat little anti theft device.

I just fitted a manual pull type knob, similar to a choke cable, and ditched the bagged actuator. I didn't want to risk it shorting out during a water crossing, which could be a real drama if it held the fuel in the cutoff position!.

Sounds like the choke / hand throttle type cable set up is the most fail safe method.

No fuses , no electrics , no actuators

    KISS principle.

Any idea of a part number for the cable and handle.

I saw one in a County just to the top RHS of the fuse box , in the firewall.

It was a round pull out to stop knob and locked in the out or off position with a twist action to release or start
