$15 from Supacheap/Auto one or similar, I'll get a better quality unit when I come across one. Bear in mind that this mod would not pass a rego inspection and may void an insurance payout!.

So , to get it going and get it to the RWC mech and auto elect can I disconnect the actuator cable , flip over the lever and get it running.
Will it stay in the on position?
I'll just stall it at the other end for now and get all the elects looked at.

To pass a "proper" RWC, the engine needs to start and stop with the key.

(although on old vehicles like my IIA landie the cable is fine).

You could rig up a central locking actuator to do the same job.

Not sure it would have enough oomph, but certainly worth trying!

Just make sure you wire it in a way it's not continually on. I suspect they'll get hot and melt if left engaged. But for the 3 seconds or so to shut an engine down they should be okay.

They're also really cheap. About $12 each last time I bought one.

Thanks Guys , all good stuff but with the other work required by me to get it close to RWC I don't have time to pull apart the fuel shut down solenoid in the bag or check other fuses behind dash etc

I just want to get it running for now to get it across there!

If I disconnect the actuator cable and manually operate the fuel shut down assembly level , is it stiff enough to stay in the open position or do I have to cable tie it open or something

Imagine it as an emergency procedure to get going in the bush

As it has a number of other electrical issues, I am going to take it to the RWC tester/mechanic to do some other work and let his auto electrician loose on it to get things sorted electrically

What's your thoughts about manuallly opening the fuel delivery valve and it staying open for the 45 min drive across to the mechanic.

    Thanks
    Pete

Mine is sprung to stay open. It takes force to hold it closed to shut the engine down.
